BREEAM Awards recognise the achievement of professionals involved in the specification, design and construction of BREEAM assessed buildings. The awards are made annually to the highest scoring building assessments certified under BREEAM Schemes in the preceding calendar year.
As part of the 2015 BREEAM Awards, you have the chance to vote for the building that you believe most deserves recognition. For this special Your BREEAM Award, Building4change has put together a shortlist, comprising the top scoring buildings in each award category for the 2015 BREEAM Awards. Now it’s up to you.
The BRANDON PRIMARY SCHOOL in Durham is among the shortlisted projects.
The single-storey newbuild school for 390 pupils achieved BREEAM Outstanding. Features include of Earth Tubes, which exploit ground source energy via controlled ventilation to introduce fresh air into the school, a biomass boiler which burns wood pellets to provide heating throughout the school and the creation of a bat roosts and wetland habitat alongside native tree and hedgerow.
