Potenza, Italia

PROFILE

I'm a civil & structural engineer with current practice mainly in green building and timber buildings. Timber buildings are not so usual in Italy (99% new buildings are RC framed, steel or masonry...), but I like thinking out of the box and I have a passion about timber and eco-materials, so some years ago I started studying them and working too. My house first, then other buildings. I started working as an engineer in 1994 in a big practice in Rome, after graduating with a thesis on seismic isolation. Then, in 1999 I obtained the title of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in "Earthquake engineering: analysis and strengthening of structures"at the University of Salerno. I gained a good experience, both working and researching in the field of earthquake engineering, using innovative techniques for protection, and in the safety assessment of existing buildings. Now my professional activity is mainly oriented to green building, expecially timber construction, such as cross laminated timber and glue lam structures. I have also experience in building energy audit and optimization and in the design of energy efficiency using environmentally friendly materials.
