The Greater London Authority (GLA) and Transport for London (TfL) launches plans to transform London’s historic Greenwich Power Station – one of the oldest in the world – to generate low carbon power for London’s Tube network and heat for 20,000 local homes and buildings. It is envisaged that local air quality will result improved due to the reduced boiler emissions of nitrogen dioxide of the individual duellings. A CHP (Combined Heat and Power) plant will be installed wthin the historic power station. Preparatory work to install the first two engines will begin in April, and they are expected to be up and running by 2017.
