Globally-renowned Skidmore, Owings & Merrill joins Ongreening

14 April 2016, 10:07 |

The high-profile architecture firm SOM chooses Ongreening showcasing the world's most energy-efficient super-tall building: The Pearl River Tower.

The 309-meter-tall iconic building in Guangzhou incorporates the latest sustainable technology and engineering know-how deploying a range of low-energy initiatives from an aerodynamic double-skin facade incorporating wind turbines to solar panels, a chilled ceiling system, underfloor fresh-air ventilation and good use of daylight through orientation and a relatively narrow plan.

The building is nearly 60% more efficient than a conventional tower of the same size.

The Pearl River Tower is one of the first super-tall buildings to be certified as a LEED Platinum building by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) – the highest level of sustainable design recognised by the internationally recognised organisation.
