PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The new Decathlon store in Ferrara has reached the Silver level of certification according to LEED Italia NC 2009 standards, as requested by the Customer. The project was developed on a previously unmanaged site and is poorly served by public transport, the choice of the site was quite penalizing for obtaining LEED points, so it was necessary to maximize the contribution of the plants and materials. The car parks provide for the possibility of recharging electric cars and allow rainwater to infiltrate. The water resource is protected through the adoption of sanitary facilities and taps with low water consumption, is also provided for a system of reuse of rainwater. Energy consumption is reduced thanks to the air conditioning system with electric heat pump, high efficiency electronic fans and modulation of the renewal flow rate according to the concentration of CO2 in the environment. The artificial lighting is LED and dimmable according to the amount of natural light present in the sales area. The photovoltaic system covers a percentage of annual energy needs of more than 9%, while the electricity supply contract provides that all the energy purchased is produced by renewable energy sources. The materials used have a recycled percentage and are extracted and processed regionally, reducing the environmental impact. In addition, construction waste has been sent to recovery and recycling centres. The quality of the indoor environment is guaranteed through a high rate of air exchange and the use of internal finishing materials that do not contain VOCs and formaldehyde.

SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY
This project has been developed on a site that was previously anthropized, which is served by public transport. Permeable materials have been selected for flooring, allowing rainwater to penetrate the ground. The heat island effect due to the project is limited, as external materials comply with Solar Reflectance Index limits envisaged.
Water is saved by means of water efficient bathroom fixtures and faucets. Additionally, a system to reuse rainfall is envisaged.
Energy consumption is reduced by means of an electric heat pump conditioning system, high-efficiency electronic fans and modulation of the air change rate depending on CO2 concentration in the area. The photovoltaic system supplies over 9% of the annual energy need, whereas the power supply contract envisages for all energy acquired to come from renewable energy sources.
Materials envisaged are partially recycled and are extracted and processed in the region, reducing the carbon footprint. In addition, construction waste has been disposed of in recycling and recovery centers. Environmental Comfort and IAQ
High air change rate and internal finish materials that do not contain any VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) and formaldehyde ensure indoor environmental quality.
