Estidama, which is the Arabic word for ‘sustainability’, is the green building rating system developed by the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC).
The Siemens Middle East Headquarters at Masdar City was inaugurated in January 2014, marking a commitment by Siemens to the future of the UAE and the Middle East, and is the first LEED Platinum-certified office building in Abu Dhabi.
Thanks to a combination of active and passive strategies, the building is expected to achieve 40% energy saving and 53% reduction in water usage compared to buildings not certified under the Estidama Pearl-Rating System.
