According to London Evening Standard, the new Apple campus will house over 1,400 staff relocated from eight sites around the capital. Located at the heart of a Grade II* listed former power station, the US tech-giant’s London HQ is part of a 42-acre mixed-use complex, which is currently undergoing major redevelopment comprising offices, retail, housing, shops, restaurants, cinema, hotels, exhibition areas and a carbon-neutral energy centre.
World’s renowned design firms such as Rafael Viñoly (masterplan), Norman Foster, Frank Gehry, Bjarke Ingel, Simpson Architects, dRMM and others are working on the regeneration of the area. BREEAM green building rating system is being incorporated into the development aiming at ensuring sustainability and energy efficiency are implemented at each stage, from the design through the operational of the buildings. With a floor area of 46,500 square meters (500,000 sqft) spread across 6 floors, the new campus will be Apple’s first major campus in London and the second largest in Europe.
Meanwhile the Californian giant’s is completing its extraordinary spaceship-like headquarters in Cupertino designed by Foster + Partners.
